The Balanced System
We’re proud to announce that our pre-school has successfully completed a prestigious new accreditation—one of only 20 schools in Kent.
This national recognition highlights our support for children with diverse needs, including speech, language, and communication.
The Balanced System, it is a collaboration between NAPLIC - A national organisation of teachers, speech and language therapists and other professionals and Better Communication CIC, and supported by the charity Afasic (Afasic supports and provides information for families with children and young adults who have Speech Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
Briary Pre-School Awarded ‘Centre of Excellence’ for Speech, Language & Communication
We are thrilled to announce that Briary Pre-School has been awarded ‘Centre of Excellence’ for our commitment to supporting children with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN). Only three early years settings in Kent have achieved this recognition.
Over the past two years, our team, led by Manager Carol and Deputy Manager Nicola, has worked with mentors from the Balanced System Scheme, supported by Better Communication, Afasic, and NAPLIC, to enhance outcomes for children with SLCN. The programme involved the whole staff team and focused on:

Providing timely interventions for children
Our mentors highlighted our consistent teamwork, creative communication-friendly environments, and strong engagement with families. This accreditation recognises our ongoing commitment to ensuring all children develop strong speech, language, and communication skills, which are essential for early learning and future success.
We are incredibly proud of our team for their dedication and hard work in achieving this prestigious recognition.
